Kennedy Space Center

Kennedy Space Center Kennedy Space Center gives you the chance to find out about the history of space travel and look at what the future may hold. There are two different films to watch of huge IMAX screens with dramatic footage photographed in space by the astronauts. Also, a new 15 minute film, "Quest for Life" examines the possibility of life on other planets.

Relaxing Days Out

When we're in Florida and tire of theme parks and shopping but want something to do, other than just lazing the day away around the pool, we have a few other favourite places that we like to visit. These include the Historic Bok Sanctuary, for a stroll around the beautiful gardens viewing the lush landscapes while listening to the music from the carillon tower.

If you enjoy walking around nature trails then a visit to one of the Florida State Parks is a must - please check the opening times before you depart. Wekiva State Park just off the I4 East of Westridge is a lovely place to experience real Florida. We love to hire a canoe and padlle the river where you get to see hundreds of turtles sunbathing and of course the occasional aligator. We recently visited Tomoka park, north of Daytona Beach and they also offer fishing, canoeing, boating and camping as well as a lovely walk.

For a day at the sea on the east coast, with lots of waves and a drive on the beach we head for Daytona Beach or we might head west to Clearwater Beach to soak up the sun and swim in the beautiful warm Gulf waters.

For an excellent and up to date guide of lots of things to do in the area I can recommend The Other Orlando. An excellent book and all the updated information is available online.

Recommended Restaurants

Whilst staying over in Florida we have found a number of excellent restaurants which we would recommend to those staying in our villa. For good steaks and shrimps we like the Outback, for Mexican food Chevy’s is great and for a huge buffet breakfast try Shoneys. A large family buffet with steaks, chicken and seafood plus eat as much as you like salads can be found at Sizzlers.
